• Professional, calm and easy to talk to. “Isn’t it interesting how when you leave a role you find out what people really think of you. Throughout my career people have said to me that they find me very professional in the work place, calm under pressure and approachable and easy to talk to. I’ve got to say, I’m pretty happy with that feedback”.
• Bachelor of Commerce at Auckland University – majoring in marketing & international business and management studies and labour relations. “My marketing degree is one of the best things I’ve ever done – it was a wonderful introduction to business systems, processes and psychology – not to mention I made some of my best friends there”.
• CV consists of mainly marketing roles. “The thing I love most about marketing is that it is the one discipline where you can get your nose into all areas of the business – sales, customer service, business development, operations and finance. I guess that’s why I’m also attracted to the web industry. An organisations’ website these days is an integrated part of the entire entity, touching all areas of the business.”
• Mariska has held a number of marketing roles where she was responsible for the company website. “I think of myself as a reasonably intelligent person, and even I had trouble trying to understand what the web guys were talking about half the time. I always keep that in mind when dealing with my clients now – just talk English!”
• Four years web industry experience. “It was while working for another Auckland web company that I realised that this was an industry I really loved. The web is where IT and marketing meet. At Datum Connect we use technology to make your organisation work smarter, faster and more efficiently”.
• Connecting the puzzle pieces together. “Together we’ll work out what you want your website to do, put a plan together to make it happen, and then utilise the brilliant team at Datum Connect to execute it. Simple”.
• When not creating fantastic websites, you will find Mariska spending time with her family and friends, doing yoga or walking around One Tree Hill. “I am a big fan of the simple things in life – take your time – smell those roses”.
• Mariska lives in Auckland with her husband and three children. “One of my passions is travelling, I love seeing new places and meeting new people, but I feel really lucky that my family and I can call Auckland home”.
