We were finding that more and more of our customers were asking us to build a decent online inventory management system - so we decided to create Cin7.

Why? Because the systems companies are using today are simply not meeting the needs of 2011. The world of retail and the business world in general are changing. Once upon a time (in reality, not so long ago), you could safely expect most of your customers to phone in an order, or come into your store. The offline inventory management system you were using to process these transactions was probably more than enough.

But that is no longer the case. This year alone has seen a significant shift to online ordering. Now, everyone wants to be able to place orders online - it’s far more straightforward. But inventory management systems haven't caught up.
